The first page of the July 2017 issue presents a review of the EU’s latest short term outlook for agriculture in 2017/18. Charts from the latest pig management committee are presented on page 2 and describe the changes in pig kill numbers and pigmeat production YTD April 2017. The global pig price cycle is discussed on page 3 and suggests caution as prices weaken. EU pig price data for June 2017 and export trade data for the first five months of 2017 are examined on page 4 with the changes in prices and exports described there. Page 5 presents the export numbers for Canada – they have continued to recover. On page 6 the USA’s exports are at record highs but sales to China have collapsed in May.
